1) The Canterbury Place Home Owners Association was formed on October 18, 1994 by The Mitchell
Company, Inc.
2) There are 123 single-family homes in the association
a) The first home built was deeded on August 12, 1994
b) The last home built was deeded in 2001
3) Dues are paid semi-annually (January 1 & July 1)
4) Dues have only been raised twice in 26 years. (2021 & 2022)
5) The Hierarchy of HOA Governing Documents:
a) Federal & State Laws
b) Recorded Plat (a drawing made from a survey that shows the property lines and the total amount of
acreage of a particular piece of land)
c)Articles of Incorporation (a set of formal documents filed with a government body to legally document
the creation of a corporation)
d) By-Laws (governs how the business is managed by the officers and board of directors)
e) Restrictions & Covenants (limits & rules placed on homes by the homeowners association)
f) Board Resolutions (clarifies vague portions of the governing documents)
6) The Canterbury Place HOA is a registered Alabama nonprofit corporation
7) There are one Annual & three General membership meetings each year. They are conducted quarterly by
the Board of Directors
8) There are two playgrounds in the neighborhood. A small playground is located near the main east
entrance to Canterbury Place. A larger playground is located on the west side of the neighborhood
9) We are located within five minutes of Mobile Bay & 45 minutes from the beautiful beaches on the Gulf of
